RECYCLING CART EXCHANGE REQUEST FORM

This request form is intended for residents of York Region’s Northern Six (N6) municipalities, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket, and Whitchurch-Stouffville, who are requesting an exchange of their standard issued 360 litre recycling cart for a smaller 240 litre size cart.

 

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: 

Please ensure to review the information below before you submit a request form for a recycling cart exchange. 

 

• Bi-weekly collection schedule: As a reminder, recycling collection in your community is moving from a weekly to bi-weekly schedule. Currently many residents use two recycling boxes on a weekly collection cycle (which totals 320 litres of recycling capacity every two weeks). The newly issued 360 litre recycling cart was chosen to support this current volume and allow for expected future volumes on a bi-weekly basis. 

• Expanded list of accepted materials: With advancements in the recycling system, residents will now be able to recycle more materials such as hot and cold beverage cups, black plastic containers, frozen juice cans, ice cream tubs, deodorant and toothpaste tubes. This expanded list of materials will increase the volume of recyclable materials generated and collected from households.

• All materials must be inside the cart for collection: All materials must be placed inside the newly issued recycling carts, with the lid fully closed to be ready for collection pick up. Please note, material placed outside the recycling cart will not be collected.

• Only one cart exchange will be permitted per address: It is important to note, only one cart exchange will be permitted per address. In addition, future requests for a second additional cart will not be permitted for household that have exchanged the standard issued 360 litre recycling cart for a smaller 240 litre size cart.

• Based on the above considerations, we recommended that residents use the issued 360 litre recycling cart for at least three bi-weekly collection cycles (i.e., over a period of six weeks) to understand your recycling needs before submitting a request to exchange for a smaller cart.

Purpose of Collecting Your Personal Information for the Recycling Cart Exchange

By providing your personal information to Circular Materials, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information by Circular Materials for: (1) purposes of evaluating your request for a recycling cart exchange (2) permit Circular Materials to share only your municipal address, phone number and email address (and not any other personal information) to its recycling collection operator and/or contractor(s) or cart manufacturer for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of your recycling cart.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

You consent to the use of your personal information by Circular Materials for the purpose outlined above, and to the disclosure of your municipal address and phone number to the recycling collection contractor(s) engaged by Circular Materials for the purpose of contacting you directly to determine your specific requirements. This includes ensuring the effective collection of recycling receptacle(s).

Your personal information will be used only for the purposes described in this consent and will not be disclosed for any other purpose without your further consent, unless required or permitted by law.

Retention and Protection of Personal Information

Your personal information will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with applicable legal requirements. The parties above will take all reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.

Your Rights Under PIPEDA

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

• Access your personal information held by Circular Materials.
• Request corrections to your personal information if it is inaccurate.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

Duration of Consent

This consent remains in effect for as long as you require a recycling cart exchange, or, until you withdraw your consent in writing. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting Circular Materials at: customerservice@circularmaterials.ca.

By submitting this request form, I agree and acknowledge that:

• I have read and understand that I am requesting an exchange from a 360 litre recycling cart to a smaller-sized 240 litre recycling cart.
• I have assessed my recycling capacity needs based on considerations including: change from a weekly to bi-weekly collection schedule, the addition of new materials that can be recycled, and that all materials must be inside my cart for collection pick up.
• I understand that this is a one-time exchange request form for a smaller cart at no additional cost.
• I understand that I will not be able to request a second additional cart in future once I exchange my standard issued 360 litre recycling cart for a smaller 240 litre size cart.
